UI Industrial Designer

About the role:
- Immediate start
- Permanent full-time position 5 days a week
- Remote work from home option available
- Design, develop, prototype, and document interactive components and user experience systems related to sensing and testing equipment. Ensure usability, accessibility, and responsiveness across different devices and screen sizes
- Create unique designs that align with the brand’s identity and enhance the user experience
- Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency and scalability across all product features
- Create wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes to visualize design concepts and user flows
- Where possible, conduct user research through interviews and usability testing to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points
- Work with electronics and software engineers to ensure holistic design success
- Participate in design reviews, project planning, and other engineering activities as per the project gateways
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and keep up-to-date with industry trends, design tools, and best practices to continuously improve design processes
- Hands-on design, assembly, debugging, testing, etc. of prototypes
About you:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in product design, with a proven track record of success in meeting deadlines, while ensuring quality standards, and controlling costs
- Conceptual design skills (comfortable with uncertainty, lateral approach, value analysis, intuitive, brain storming)
- Experience with user research methodologies such as interviews and usability testing, to gather insights and inform design decisions
- Strong skills in creating wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes (both digital and physical)
- Expertise in visual design principles, including layout, colour theory, typography, and iconography
- Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar tools.
- Strong animation and rendering skills to be used for marketing
- Solid understanding of UX/UI principles, interaction design, information architecture, and design systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address design challenges and identify improvements
- Excellent organisational and communication skills to manage schedules, coordinate with cross functional teams, and provide regular reports on design activities
- CAD literacy (2D drawing, 3D solid modelling, graphic design software, image manipulation and render), with advanced understanding of Solidworks CAD software
- Detail design and prototyping skills (component design, design for manufacture/reliability)
- Visualisation and building upon basic concepts (hand sketching, 2D drafting, rendering)
